l am thinking about selling insurance on commission. It means that l wo not collect any pay for at least three months. l can not do it if l have to go those months without any income. How will Arkansas unemployment see this? Will l have to forfeit my unemployment benefits during those months that l have no income?

You can collect unemployment as long as you are not being paid. They will adjust your unemployment check according to how much you get paid in commissions.

Any job paying commission is still a job and you can not collect.You will be issued a 1099 form the company you contract from.The govt.gets there copy and knows you where paid commission.You will be sent a bill form unemployment for a refund of the money that was paid too you.Or you can be arrested for theft.You decide what you want too do.

If u have no income during the first thee months then u will need ur unemployment checks.
However it gets complicated afterwards when ur commissions start to roll in.
You will have to stop the unemployment insurance & declare ur earnings, if u do not have a lot of commissions in the first 5 or 6 months, then they could top-off ur earnings with a partial unemployment benefits check.
Good luck - u r brave to start working on commissions - most people do not have the guts to do it.

It may depend if you are hired as a contractor or a statutory employee. Why do not you find out how you would be hired and then contact the department of labor?
