With or without cause, you lose your insurance. You may be eligible for Cobra, but that is only for 18 months. This is why l advocate individual insurance. You own the policy - not your employer.

Depending on how many employees ur employer has, u r eligible for COBRA or State Continuation. These both have limits on how long u can continue ur coverage. The intention was for an individual to be able to continue coverage until their new employer is coverage was available to them.

Individual coverage, or sometimes an short-term medical plan r less expensive than paying the cost of the COBRA premium, however, underwriting does apply, & u can be denied coverage.

Do not be fooled by medical discount programs. They r not insurance, & in many cases, they r a scam.

Contact a local, independent agent & ask if u can discuss alternatives to COBRA/State Continuation.
