I am moving this month to live with relatives in NY with my fiance and need prenatal care for me and my baby.l qualify for CA government assistance and would qualify for NY but am not a resident. I am 3 months pregnant.

Called the insurance company, l wo not be able to keep my CA insurance once l move out of state.

You can do all the research before u leave, but until u r actually physically in the state of NY, u most likely wo not be able to enroll in the government sponsored health insurance. Because the programs that cover care for mom is & unborn babies r usually state funded plans, that is why u have to wait until u actually r a resident of the state.

Check out the website: health.state.ny.us which is for the New York State Department of Health, & u should be able to find a toll free number to call to receive information on what u will need to do to receive the coverage.

You will have to change your state of residency. Health insurance is regulated by each state, so you can not use CA insurance in NY. You will need to apply for NY welfare health insurance.

Or maybe your fiancee would marry you, and you can get added to his health policy through his work.

You simply have to have a New York address to prove residency and provide proof of that address. Here is a link that will answer most of your questions :
