Depending on what is wrong, u MIGHT find a private carrier to give u a policy at a higher rate, or excluding condition related problems.

You're not going to find a private company willing to swap ur $300 a month payment, for $1,000 a month claims. They'd go out of business if they did that.

That IL high risk health pool, or an employer (waiting through the exclusion period) r ur best bets. Oh, & the high risk health pool is NOT taxpayer subsidized - so depending on what is wrong with you, expect the premiums to be 3X to 10X what a healthy person ur age would pay.
