my daughter has a health condition and had group insurance throught her husband work since august.her husband quit his job and got a new job with no coverage. He is now paying for cobra insurance at this time and planning to stop paying since his new boss will be getting a group insurance soon.my question is how long can they be without insurance before the group insurance no longer will take time?

It is not 30, it is 63. As long as the lapse is less than 63 days, there wo not be a problem.
